The El Paso County Department of Health and Environment has approximately 200 employees with more than 54 separate programs aligned under five service divisions.

With a population of 510,000, El Paso is the 4th largest of Colorado's 63 counties, encompassing about 2,158 square miles of diverse topography. The County Health Department serves several towns and incorporated cities within El Paso County. About 70 miles south of Denver, the Health Department is located in the county's largest city, Colorado Springs, at the base of Pikes Peak at the western edge of the county.
