positions require an interview to assure a
successful match between you and a volunteer
role. |

TRAINING:
|
You will
receive an orientation to the health department
and will be advised of expectations, policies
and procedures. The department you choose
to work in will provide on-the-job training
and give you the supervision needed to develop
skills. |
Current volunteer
opportunities:
- Clerical Support Staff:
provides clerical support to various services.
General responsibilities include filing, photocopying,
answering phones, data entry, and preparing
mailings and brochures. Computer proficiency
is optional. Qualifications include organizational
and communication skills and attention to detail.
Most volunteers work 4 hours per week.
- Senior Tax Work-Off
Program: Seniors over 60 may work up
to 19.25 hours and receive a maximum of $100
off their property taxes. Call the volunteer
office for an application and fact sheet.
- Spanish Interpreter:
assists clients by interpreting for staff in
clinic settings or interacts with the public
at community events. Translators render informational
brochures into Spanish. Qualifications include
proficiency in grammar and ability to interact
with all age groups. Time commitment varies
according to tasks required and volunteer interest
and availability.
- WIC Assistant:
assists clients with paperwork, restocks pamphlet
shelves, obtains heights, weights and length
measurements and performs other responsibilities
as requested by clinic staff. Qualifications
include attention to detail, ability to work
with children, basic math skills, and a commitment
to providing quality customer service. Volunteers
must commit to working 2 to 4 hours per week
for at least 6 months.
