How We Protect You

At Home
  • We provide information to help you prevent foodborne illness as you store, prepare and serve food at home.

Outside the Home

  • We provide inspections and education to about 2,700 retail food establishments in El Paso County that serve food to the public, including:
    • Restaurants
    • Grocery stores
    • Convenience stores
    • School kitchens
    • Hot dog stands
    • Mobile units

In Business and Industry

  • We issue retail food establishment licenses in compliance with state law.
  • We conduct plan reviews for new and remodeled food establishments to reduce risk of foodborne illness.
  • We provide food safety classes for food service workers in English and Spanish.
