El Paso County, Colo.-- As a coordinated response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, El Paso County Public Health, El Paso County, and the City of Colorado Springs will provide updates from a variety of local agencies responding to this health emergency. Media are encouraged to share the below information with the public and media interviews are available. This communication will go out between noon and 1 p.m. 

New Call Center Hours
The El Paso/Teller County COVID-19 Call Center is changing its hours, effective Monday, June 8. The new hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. The call center can be reached at 719-575-8888.

Lunch series for small businesses: How to Apply for PPP Loan Forgiveness
The Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center is hosting a Friday Lunch Series designed to help regional small businesses improve recovery and resilience as part of SBDC’s Small Business Response efforts. The no-cost online webinars run 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  

The next webinar, How to Apply for PPP Loan Forgiveness, is scheduled for Friday, June 5. The webinar will include an updated discussion of the Payroll Protection Program from application to forgiveness and what business owners need to know to comply with the program and avoid any unwanted surprises from both a tax professional and lender perspective. 

This webinar is co-hosted by Exponential Impact’s Survive & Thrive COS emergency business relief fund and is part of the Colorado SBDC’s Disaster Preparedness and Continuity Program. Colorado Springs now accepting CARES Act CDBG-CV and ESG-CV applications
The City of Colorado Springs Community Development Division is accepting applications through June 26 for its special CARES Act allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-CV) Public Services and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG-CV) Funds. The Division anticipates making approximately $1.4 million in federal funds available for eligible projects that specifically prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus and its impacts within the City of Colorado Springs. All Colorado Springs nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and public agencies that serve low-income Colorado Springs residents are invited to apply.

The minimum request amount for both CDBG-CV and ESG-CV applications: $50,000. Application deadline is June 26, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MST

CDBG-CV Public Services project monies totaling $1 million are available for the public services projects in the areas of housing, whole family health and safety, and resilience. Funds will target programs to help households making less than 60 percent area median income and have experienced a loss or reduction of income due to the coronavirus.

ESG-CV funds totaling $400,000 for homeless service programs to include, emergency shelter, street outreach, rapid rehousing, homelessness prevention, and homeless management information systems. 

All proposed projects must be tied to a demonstrable increase or modification of services due to the prevention of, preparation for and response to the coronavirus and its impacts on agency clientele.
