Maternal and Child Health Program

The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program is committed to improving the overall health and well-being of all children in El Paso County through prevention, early intervention and access to care.

Every child is different and develops at their own pace. However, sometimes children do not reach certain milestones which may signal a potential medical or developmental delay. These children may need extra support and services to ensure healthy growth and development in areas like physical movement, language, cognitive skills, and social interaction. Early identification and intervention are important for addressing possible delays.

If a concern is identified, Maternal and Child Health staff can support caregivers and community members by providing information, education, and resources.

Tuberculosis (TB)

The Tuberculosis (TB) Clinic at Public Health works to prevent and control the spread of tuberculosis in El Paso County through targeted testing and education. We provide accurate information about tuberculosis in addition to the following services:

  • We offer the TB interferon gamma release assay (IGRA) blood test in the form of Quanitiferon-TB Gold (QFT) with a physician’s order.
  • We medically evaluate and treat people who have tuberculosis.
  • We medically evaluate people who have been in contact with others who have/had tuberculosis.
